• Garden care: Require a moist but well drained soil with plenty of organic matter. Water regulary to maintain plant health during hot periods. Add a mulch of organic matter in autumn, prune off any dead growth as required.

One of our mightiest forest trees, found throughout NZ. In cultivation it grows to 5-8 metres, making it suitable for gardens. It gains height quickly for the first few years then fills out. Useful as a specimen tree or hedging and is not fussy about soil conditions. Sun to part-shade. Evergreen. Hardy.
