- Other features: The hardiest of all tree ferns it can even handle a full sun site but is best if sheltered from the wind
- Garden care: Require a moist but well drained soil with plenty of organic matter. Water regulary to maintain plant health during hot periods. It is best to water tree ferns through the crown this can be done with an irrigation dripper or with the hose. Add a mulch of organic matter in autumn, prune off any dead growth as required.
Wheki-ponga. A sturdy tree fern with a distinctive furry trunk and fronds that grow in a formal circular pattern. Slow growing increasing height approx 10cm per year. One of the hardiest tree ferns, but water well initially. Hardy. Evergreen.
