- Garden care: Plant in a full sun well drained situation in the garden such as a north facing garden. Ideal for planting on slopes, sandy or stoney soil, or areas where watering is difficult. Compost can also be added to improve aeration and drainage. Avoid the use of animal manures. As Aloes require good drainage the use of raised beds can be used these can be constructed using rocks or mounded soil. Agaves will benefit from watering during summer but allow to dry out between waterings. During winter watering will not be required as excess moisture may result in damage or death. A low nitrogen fertilser can be used in spring.
One of the best compact forms of the African Aloe. Fantastic long, narrow silver-grey leaves with soft, red spines are a great feature of this plant. Bears orange-yellow tubular flowers during the spring months. Ideal as a container plant indoors or a sheltered position in the garden.
